Coaching is both an art and a science.
Leadership calls on you to connect with others and spur them to action. It’s an art learned only through practice and it asks you to bring all of yourself to the role: your mind, body and emotions. The ClarityWorks coaching methodology is pragmatic and provides a structure needed to develop new skills and habits.
Learning new ways of seeing, being and communicating can be difficult to do alone, but with guidance it is easier than you might expect. Fundamentally, it’s about being introduced to new concepts, learning how and when to apply them, running small experiments and making adjustments based on the results.
The art is something that only comes from years of practice, working with hundreds of leaders at science and tech companies. It's the ability to quickly cut through the noise to see what’s really going on and what will most help.
ClarityWorks Coaching Methodology Process
1. Assess
What are your goals? What are your pain points? What’s holding you back? What aren’t you seeing?
We get clarity on the dynamics of your situation: what’s working and what’s not. Includes in-depth interviews (e.g. stakeholders, boss, peers) and other assessments.
2. Focus + Plan
What are the priorities? What areas of focus would produce the most impact? How do we create transformation?
Together we define our focus and design a path forward for you. Draws upon expertise gained from 15 years developing teams and leaders in tech and life science.
3. Development
What conversations, skills and practices will move you forward?
The role of a coach is to provide the pragmatic and targeted support needed to learn new ways of seeing, relating and responding. You’ll practice new skills and make adjustments that yield big gains.
Elements of learning
Structure
Clarity and structure are important if you want reliable results from coaching. When it comes to developing leadership, we need to define what’s most important for you to work on and narrow in on the key issues which can unlock the bigger picture and maximize your potential. The methodologies we draw upon provide a structure, but the magic happens in concert with guidance tailored to you and your unique situation.
Tailored to You
Cookie cutter doesn’t work. There are lots of nuances in every situation and each leader comes with different strengths, needs and challenges.
Awareness
Coaching to expand your awareness so that you can be a better observer of what’s really going on, uncover hidden limitations, respond more appropriately and make better choices.
New Skill Introduction
Learn new ways of being, relating and leading (e.g. reduce emotional reactivity, transform how you show up in meetings, coach rather than dictate to others, navigate conflict, manage by commitments rather than tasks).
Feedback
The ClarityWorks approach is iterative. This means that we review results as we go and make adjustments as needed. To develop adaptability and agility requires testing our edges and stretching.
Practice
Guidance to help you put your learning into practice and develop new habits. Accounts for your realities (time, needs, challenges). Often includes exercises beyond our sessions.
Confidentiality
Whatever you share will be held in strict confidence. In the case that our work together must be accountable to stakeholders in your company, we will agree together about what and how we will communicate progress to others. Nothing will be shared unless you've agreed to it.
